Geisha Fan Pendant . Handcrafted in Sterling Silver.


The Fan measures 2.5 x 3.5 cm which has a pretty chain and ball tassel is suspended from a good quality sterling silver chain.


Total length of the pendant from the bail to the ball at the bottom is 5 cm and the weight of the pendant is 5.85 grams appx.


This beautifully handcrafted and engraved pendant has been created in our workshop to emphasize the style and grace of the Geisha fan.


This beautiful pendant forms park of our 'Fighting Spirit' collection of martial arts jewellery and as a numbered piece will be supplied in a presentation box accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

Geisha Fan -
Fans were also adapted for use as weapons and craftsmen discovered a way of taking the "pak dahl" wood, an extremely resilient birch tree that thrived in the ice storms and harsh seasons, and tempering it to a hardness that could resist the edged weapons typical of the era.


Also used in dances, there are two main types of Japanese traditional dance: Odori, which originated in the Edo period, and Mai, which originated in the western part of Japan.
A variation of the Mai style of Japanese dance is the Kyomai or Kyoto-style dance. Kyomai developed in the 17th century Tokugawa cultural period. It is heavily influenced by the elegance and sophistication of the manners often associated with the Imperial Court in Kyoto.
